One of my housemates came down to London last month to visit. I showed him the usual sites...covent garden, oxford street. Then i took him to the National portrait Gallery to see this painting. I heard about it from an art show on C4. The blur at the bottom of the painting is a cool perspective trick. if you look at it from the right-side at an angle you can see its a skull. It was painted in 1553 by Hans Holbein the Younger. he was one of the first painters to use perspective. What a ledge, my housemate didn't appreciate it as much as me : ( Im just so cultured and artistic!
